Our Persuasion

Many people ask: What kind of church is Hope?

  • We are an unaffiliated Baptist church.  This simply means that we do not belong to any conventions or denominations.
What does Hope teach and believe?

We strongly believe the following:

  • We strive for a literal, grammatical, historical and accurate interpretation and application of the Bible to our lives.
  • We reject any extra-biblical standards or religious traditions that are not found in Scripture and/or promote a legalistic lifestyle.
  • We are saved by God's grace and live the Christian life by His grace.
  • We live to glorify God in all that we do.

Our History

Hope, a church glorifying, began far before it's launch date of May 28, 2008.  In 2005, I (Pastor Dan) was working on staff at a church in Las Vegas, Nevada.  One of the other associate pastors was called to plant a church in Fresno, California.  During times of outreach or ministry, the other staff member would talk nonstop about his vision for church planting in the central valley of California.  This lit a spark in my heart, and in 2005 I told God that I would surrender to church planting.  Just a few months after God began to speak to me about my call to church plant, Kassi Markley came into my life.  We were married and moved to Tennessee to finish my seminary education.  During that two-year period I prayed daily for the church and worked on preparing for  the church plant through demographic research and field study.  On our first survey trip we came across Faithway Fellowship Baptist Church. This small church had been started by Pastor Harold Biegel about a year earlier. I met Pastor Biegel and let him know that I had not seen Faithway in any of my research and was surprised that it was in town.  That night Pastor Biegel asked me to come and preach, and to my surprise the entire church (all eight people)  showed up to vote on giving a call to me and Kassi to come and lead the work.  Needless to say, our little survey trip had taken an unsuspected turn. After much counsel and prayer, we found ourselves coming to the Pass Community  a year earlier then we had planned.  With no deputation, we took what Faithway had and the small group of eight people and started on this adventure.
